OVERVIEW
Angola's first newly built refinery since independence in 1975, inaugurated 1 September 2025 in the Cabinda exclave. A joint venture majority-owned by UK merchant bank Gemcorp (90%) alongside state oil company Sonangol (10%), it began Phase 1 operations at 30,000 b/d producing diesel, jet fuel, naphtha and heavy fuel oil; Phase 2 is planned to double capacity to 60,000 b/d within 18-24 months of full Phase-1 operation.
